This was insane. Ju watched as Damian took responsibility for the situation and while he didn’t fight, she knew he was concerned. As the security team left with him she could only watch and hope that he would be all right and they would take care of him where ever he was going. Again she felt the familiar sting of tears but again she blinked them away and let out a shuddering breath. Chaos was had been the name of today and now she just wanted to drown her sorrows and sleep. One would be necessary for the other anyway after a day like today.
Givens dismissed them stating they could get started the next morning because today had been enough. On this, Givens and Ju agreed. With people leaving and conversations going on around her Ju stood up trying to decide on her own next course of action. Before she could turn to go, her Chief caught her attention. His eyes were kind and that helped a lot because many would have put her to work instead he told her to take her time coming onto her shift in the morning. Ju offered a sad smile. “Thank you, Commander. See you tomorrow.”
Ju wasn’t sure how her night would go she may even show up early if she couldn’t sleep. It all depended. It wasn’t that Ju and Damian spent a lot of nights together it was just that she was worried for him. It was one thing to go to sleep in your own Quarters knowing your partner was asleep in theirs. It was another thing to know he was off the ship, arrested, with an uncertain future while you were in your Quarters with little to no information. Ju decided she would at least write to him, though she had no idea if he would be able to see or read her correspondence at least he would know he was not forgotten and often thought of.
Ju turned and made eye contact with Mara giving her a nod of thanks for being a comfort during such a stressful time. Without any further delay Ju headed out of the Briefing room. It was weird to go straight to her Quarters, Damian and Ju made a monumental effort to share at least one meal a day together depending on their shift schedules. Tonight she would be eating alone but she supposed that was all right because she didn’t find herself hungry, she found herself thirsty.
