Though the Tricorder could not give advice on the situation, but the information it did give would lead to a fairly simple medical conclusion:
Dr. Kiernan's heart rate was abysmally slow as a result of the hibernation process, meaning that blood was not pumping sufficiently around his system. His neural readings were equally low, for the same reason, meaning the body's automatic processes were not currently functioning. Both would need to be restored to normal within the next few minutes if Kiernan was to survive without major brain damage.
