Jaein was very nonplussed at the computer. Unfortunately, it wasn't anything that he could actually correct; it was just a report, after all. Nebulas habitually caused starships problems, and this one was no different.
Fortunately, it appeared that this one was relatively mild as far as actual operations went. No problems for weapons other than targeting, and then shields at 80%, meant that they would be at nearly full capacity. This was traded by a severe curtailing of their sensors, but this at least underscored why they were here. He caught Crawford looking at him as she asked about probe spacing, but the new FO spoke before he could.
This was just as well, as Grant, in pursuit of his own orders, spoke to him instead. "Commander," Grant asked him, "how much auxiliary do we have available for me to utilize to try to boost the range?"
"Should still have full reserves," he said, consulting his console. This early in the mission, there hadn't been any need to tap into the extra power that the warp core and the fusion generators put out. "I can give you an extra 15% to the sensors of their normal power availability." He hit a few commands and put actions to words, simultaneously making a note that they would want to subject the sensors to extra diagnostics and some preventative maintenance once the mission was over.
"See what that gives you," he told the tactical officer with a smile.
==GM Input: Grant was kind enough to implement the boost in his post already, so what does the extra power show us?==
