"With the boost, sensors will only penetrate approximately half the distance the probes will," Grant said from his post. "Approximately double our torpedo range, to put in Tactical terms. Not the greatest, but we'll be able to have better visual just in case...better than what we started with."
"Hngh," Jolann acknowledged. It was pitiful, really, but that appeared to be the best possible at this point. He bore no malice against the crew for that - environmental factors were what they were - but it still was nowhere close to where he wanted to see it. Still, they had a job to do and no impediment, so he saw no reason not to move on.
"Helm, move us to the first drop-off point," he ordered - it was on the edge of the nebula, approximately half a lightyear inside which let it stay in contact with the Federation communications grid while not losing too much of its scanning range. "Best impulse speed."
Turning slightly - he didn't know why, but he always looked at absolutely nothing while he talked on the comm - he triggered his comm. "Bridge to Science. Prepare the first probe for deployment. Moving into position now."
Orders issued, he sat back and waited to see how the crew responded.
==Grant - feel free to narrate us into position. Assume no problems.==
