The CMO smiled warmly. "Thanks! To tell the truth that was nerve-wracking. I mean, the Academy board was there too. I almost threw up before the concert. And I only started the piano a few months ago. Just part of being enhanced, I guess."

So the rumors were true. Robin really is an augmented human.

Hally had dated a guy for a *very* short time who came from a family who was overtly anti-augment. Being non-human Hallowette had little in the way of a natural bias towards genetic augmentation, in fact she personally knew a Bajoran who had undergone gene therapy to treat a disease he had suffered from since birth. It had worked, giving him a quality of life that would have been undreamt of without. She understood why some species were wary, even frightened of augmentation - the Academy history classes had gone into extensive detail about the Eugenics Wars on Earth, but that was centuries ago. It wasn't like Robin had volunteered to become a super soldier...so far as she knew. Ultimately whatever reason Robin's parents had for augmenting her, she may have gotten a leg up here and there, but down deep she was still whoever she was before. Robin had always seemed kind, considerate and empathetic. If that is what augmented humans were like, then she knew quite a few humans, as well as other species, that could stand to undergo a tweak or two.

Besides, she really makes that purple hair work.

Hally smiled warmly, attempting to reassure her old classmate that she was never among her detractors. She cradled the remains of her latte in both hands, bringing the mug to her lips and engaging in a deep sip to finish the cup. Augment or not, Hally was just glad Robin was here. Somehow she felt safer knowing the woman was overseeing medical on the ship. Just as Hally set the cup down she followed Robin's gaze to the crimson haired woman that was standing at the replicator.

Hallowette chuckled internally as she saw another redhead. One of the senior enlisted had made a joke on her first day that had taken some time for Hally to decrypt. She had just overheard him say to another something along the lines of, "Great, another member of the Red brigade. Before you know it, Captain's gonna require us all to get a dye job." Hally had begun to understand the man's tease. The Artemis did seem to have an above average number of auburn haired people.

Good for us!

"This is Aeryn Miller, our Chief Science Officer and former Chief of Security. Aeryn, this is Hallowette Maxas-Darl, a new Midshipman and friend from the Academy. Wanna take a seat? There's more than enough room if you'd like some company." her purple haired companion said as she waved the woman over.

Friend from the Academy! I didn't even know you knew I existed before tonight! Hally thought to herself with satisfaction.

Following Robin's prompt, Hallowette scooched over in order to make more room at the table. As she did so she stood, smiled and nodded sincerely towards the ship's CSO. "It's a pleasure to meet you Sir." She pulled a chair out from the table, offering it to the attractive senior officer.
