<<Science<<
The Turbolift had opened up to a familiar sight. The hubbub of Engineering, the smell of grease, the odor of ignition, everything that made Ju feel at home away from home. There was something beautiful about the gentle hum of machinery and the bustle that came about in Engineering. She hadn’t seen her Commander since the briefing when she had gone to work in Science for a while to help with the refit of the Probes for the mission. Now, she was back home.
On one hand she really missed Science but if she was being honest with herself she missed the companionship that was offered by Aeryn. A true friendship had been born while working on probes which included venting, laughter, and learning a bit about each other. She had been so glad for someone to help her divert her attention to something else that she had looked forward to her time in Science daily.
Ju pulled her PADD out of her pocket and ran through her messages as she stepped out on the floor, PADD in one hand and coffee in the other freshly stolen from Science. She may have to make a habit of going in there for coffee just to say hi to Aeryn before her shifts and to get coffee. Sure, she could replicated it down here just fine but it was more fun to have coffee with a good friend.

Ju sighed and shoved her sticker decorated PADD into her pocket again and headed to an empty console to see what she could help with. Her dark eyes scanned the area to see if the Chief was here but she didn’t see him. Setting her coffee down on the console in front of her Ju quickly signed in and began to run through the various screens to see if there was anything for them to do down here. Not that she hoped things would go wrong she was fine with doing routine maintenance at this point. She just didn’t want to be sitting around waiting for her shift to end. Ju had never been good at that sort of thing and perhaps that was one of the reasons she picked Engineering as her passion because there was always something to do.
Pulling a peppermint out of her pocket she pulled on the little clear ends and popped the candy in her mouth to kill the coffee scent but also because it helped her focus. Her eyes slid over the screens looking for anything that she could do. Maybe she could go count rivets or something…. Suddenly, something popped up on the screen, one of the EPS junctions was having an issue. She knew that everything was built to function around such a small thing but anything was better than nothing.
Ju left her coffee where it was because she was already on peppermint mode. Grabbing her Engineering kit she looked across the deck to see someone else getting theirs as well. Ju hadn’t had time to meet many people yet even on her own deck, but she figured this was a good a time as any. Ju made a bee line for the Petty Officer.
“Mind if I join you?” she asked with a smile on her face. “I could use the distraction. I’m Ju by the way,” she held out a hand to the Petty Officer.
