Nico was obviously having trouble concentrating through the pain. As Miles made to help move him as gently as possible, the other man gave Miles an apologetic shake of his head to answer the question that had been asked of him. Miles sighed, slightly disappointed, but could not fault the man.
He nodded at his bond-mates words of caution about taking him back to the mansion. Whereas he was a suspect, he also appeared to be a victim.
"I'm not fond of the reaction we might get, either," Miles replied. "But we know there's a doctor there who can at least ensure he doesn't get worse before first responders arrive." With that, he picked the other man up. Nico let out a quick grunt of pain, but nodded to Miles reassuringly that he could bear it until they got help.
The journey back was obviously longer, but they did manage to make it back to the party. Spotting the doctor still around the Valentine children, he approached. As he did so, he noticed the sheet completely draped over the body of Broderick. His siblings looked grief-stricken, with Nicolette looking especially emotional, with more anger and rage than sadness now. She looked up as the group approached, and Miles could see that anger flare as she made to lunge towards the wounded man in Miles' arms, only to be stopped by the arms of her other brother, Trenton.
"Murderer!!" she called out. "Put him down, so he can pay for what he did to my brother!"
"Calm yourself, sister," he said. "He has also clearly been attacked." Trenton at least seemed more cool-headed, but his next words also indicated he still viewed Nico as a suspect. "He could have done them to himself to throw off suspicion, but it's not our job to decide...yet." This seemed to at least stop Nicolette from continuing her assault as she was moved away and the doctor approached to assess Nico's wounds. As he did so, Miles and Lina were approached by Trenton.
