It made sense that the first probe would be fine. It would get interesting the deeper the Artemis travelled into the nebula. Lucy was about to report on the probe’s condition when the read from the second probe caught something of interest. A Klingon transport vessel making its way through the nebula like another standard delivery.
The query about letting it go on its way had been interesting, but it would be prudent to check what was being transported. The qoH wasn’t acting as if they had detected the Artemis. It would also be educational to know how they were traversing the nebula. There was almost a drift in the sensor readings. The bridge switched to yellow alert.
Cautious was good as the qoH had appeared on the edge of the second probe’s sensor radius. Under the Captain’s orders they were heading to intercept the qoH and see what they were up to. Cargo inspections were an odd idea. Might have made sense when it was a case of taxes, but smugglers moved more than alcohol these days.
Lucy put another request through the system. This time including a comparison of the reads between the two probes. If there was an effect further in it would be nice to know where it was strongest. Travelling in a straight line would only be practical up to a distance. Areas of space were susceptible to eddies and currents of unusual strength.
Between tachyon eddies and other phenomena could get exciting if you didn’t maintain a level of awareness. Complacency would get you into genuine trouble and Lucy got why not taking things at face value was important.
