Entering the Auditorium, Mika took in the sights of all the various cadets and Academy personnel going about their lives. It wasn’t her first time standing in this particular space, but it was the first time she saw it in this particular light. Today was the beginning of the end for her time at the Academy. It was, however, a doorway to her future in Starfleet, and she was going to step through.
Hard to believe someone was in my shoes, looking at me the same way I’m seeing others now. Biggest question is whether or not I looked as nervous as some of the first-year cadets are now back then. Four years seems like almost a lifetime ago, in a small way.
Entering the queue, Mika straightened her uniform to make it more presentable for when she would eventually reach the end of the line. Scientists could often get engrossed in their discoveries to leave little time for basic appearance. After all, why wouldn’t a possible greatest discovery in the universe be more important than looking pristine? Approaching the desk, Mika made sure to breathe.
“Cadet Mika Bowman, reporting in.”
