As Grant worked on opening channel, Tyra shot a look at Cass, her eyebrow arching slightly. There was a time where this sort of action would have been the dark haired Captain's bread and butter but the grin she shot back at Tyra suggested her current thought was more along the lines of 'not my monkeys, not my circus'.

Seemed it was up to Tyra to brush off the cobwebs on her interdictionsl skills.

Once Grant signaled the chanel was open, the redheas squared her shoulders. "This is the USS Artemis. We were conducting a routine patrol when we noticed your vessel within the nebula. We wanted to make sure y'all weren't lost or suffering from navigational issues that we might be able to assist with."

It was bullshit, absolute bullshit, but it was better than coming out swinging with Federation regulation 5051.12 ©, which granted them the ability to conduct inspections when indicators for smuggling were present. After all, her Pops always said you got more bees with honey than vinegar but she found that only worked so well when it came to work place issues.

She just hoped Grant and their young pilot were on their toes for of this went poorly.
