“Got’cha,” Carol replied, moving over to where Mara was gamely doing her best. “Let’s do some reconfiguring here… Always liked a good game of hide and seek. Let’s see what we can find…”
“I usually do my seekin’ at the end of a rifle. Very different scales we work at,” Calleja answered with a wry grin.
The Security Chief had managed to get a layout of the ship that pretty much matched the records, but it wasn’t until Harriman worked her magic that they were able to pinpoint the enemy ship’s crew complement and where they were.
“Ah, there they are,” Mara said. “Thank you Carol! What have we got… All Klingons. And half of ‘em runnin’ through and messin’ with the cargo. That ain’t ominous at all,” she added, reading through the information present on what was being carried, such as it was. “Wish we could pick up more info on that cargo. I don’t like goin’ in blind on what they’re carryin’. I do know I want some more bodies on our side though.” She tapped her commbadge.
“Calleja to Security. I need Trevathan’s squad to gear up and report to transporter room 2. Tell Okehampton to send Danny with them. I’ll join them shortly.”
[Acknowledged Chief. I’ll get them going.]
“Thanks. Calleja out.”
With that taken care of, Mara knew she had to report their findings but being up here made her oddly nervous suddenly. It felt a bit like hostile territory. There was an FO she didn’t know. Givens who she definitely did know but right now wished she didn’t. And then Tyra herself, who was not going to be in a forgiving mood if the Amazonian Lieutenant screwed up again.
Calleja took a deep breath to compose herself before turning round to face the command chair.
“Cap’n Crawford?” the Bandaran said. “We got some details on the ship. Can’t identify the cargo yet but it looks inorganic and it’s not settin’ off any of the volatile substance markers. Crew of 12, all Klingon. 6 split between the bridge and the engine room, and the other 6 are chargin’ round the cargo bays. Probably hidin’ evidence and seein’ what can be flushed out an airlock. I’ve got rough deck plans thanks to Lieutenant Harriman. With your leave, I’d like to go brief my teams. We’ll be ready to go on your order.”
