== Mika Bowman’s Temporary Quarters ==
No longer a Cadet, Mika had found herself on the infamous Deep Space Nine. While most of history would remember it as being one of the key strategic areas of the Dominion War, Mika could only see it as the gateway to the vast unknown. That being the Bajoran wormhole, one of the only stable wormholes, that led to the Gamma Quadrant. The young woman couldn’t help but imagine all the possibilities of exploration that it could lead to.
If only it were actually possible for us to go out there and explore. From what I understand about ‘recent’ events, the Dominion has effectively said “You stay on your side, and we’ll stay on ours”. Maybe one day, who knows.
Regardless, it’s not like this was something that Mika had to worry about. The young woman wasn’t being assigned to Deep Space Nine itself, while she was instead awaiting her actual assignment to return from its current mission. Starfleet had seen fit to assign her to the Yeager, and Mika had a mix of feelings about the assignment as she sat at the desk in her temporary quarters.
Classified as a patrol vessel, so I’ve got to wonder how much actual exploration that’s possible. It’s half of a science vessel hull, so maybe it’ll at least have a decent lab, or two. Mom and dad would probably be telling me how stupid I am, at least more than they’d already think. I’ll just have to prove them even more wrong.
Waiting to actually board the ship was, in a way, a slight pain. Sure waiting for an experiment to be performed took time, but this didn’t feel the exact same. Perhaps, even as she was told by others during her time at the Academy, she needed to lighten up. Scientific endeavors wasn’t the end all to life, but it was about all she knew.
I’ll be on the station for who knows how long. Wouldn’t do well to spend it cooped up in quarters.
Grabbing a light, fashionable jacket, Mika figured it wouldn’t do any harm to explore what Deep Space Nine had to offer. In a way it was effectively a city in space, especially with it’s Promenade.
