Maz and her father talked for several hours. They looked at actual photographs, something that wasn't at all common in the newly minted 25th century. And they went for a walk around the town and of course to the cemetery.
It was turning dark as they began heading back to the house. “I think they've begun serving in the Bear.” Said her Dad.
“Why not?” replied Maz who was holding his arm as they walked.
Pushing open the big black chevroned door, the first words they heard came from the barman. “Evening Ophur.” He said to Maz's Dad. Then to her. “And you're barred.”
“That was twenty years ago...” Maz began to protest.
“Rules is rules.” replied the barman.
“Just for one night?” Asked Ophur. “She has come a long way.”
The barman mumbled for a bit. “Okay. Just for now. But if there's any trouble, you're both out. Right.?”
Both Blacks looked at each other and then back to the barman and nodded in unison.
“The usual then?” said the barman with a complete change of demeanour.
“Please.” said Ophur as he and Maz took a seat and picked up a menu.
“Right, here you go. Pint of Stout, and a lemonade.”
“My usual was a pint of larger...” She began to say, but the barman corrected her.
“Not when you're in here with you Mum and Dad it wasn't. Now what can I get you fine people to eat?”
