Surface freeflowing water is not nearly as prevalent home on Andoria as it is here on Earth, Ris mused to himself. It's still a little unnerving to see all of this open water, even after four years. His commbadge *chirruped* to signal an incoming transmission. He promptly tapped it with his right hand. [Assignment notification for Midshipman Ris'maeriiffa Qab'ataar.] A bit of a nasally tone, he noted. "Midshipman Qab'ataar here." After the computer chewed on the digital vocal signal for less than a millisecond to verify it was him, the voice on the other end continued. [Assignment as Science Officer, USS Yeager, NCC-60097. Transport to the Yeager is via Fleet UNREP vessel, USS Lowry, NCC-23885. Vessel departs from orbital dock 15 at 0400 hours Zulu time.] Checking his chronometer, he was startled to realize he had barely three hours to pack his kit and get to the orbital dock. He sighed. So much for having time to have a final, celebratory dinner with T'rohnna and the rest of the gang. "Midshipman Qab'ataar acknowledges assignment and transportation arrangements." A Fleet Underway Replenishment vessel? This will be a bit different. == USS Lowry, Fleet UNREP Vessel, en route to Wairara system to rendezvous with USS Yeager == "That's it, Mister Qab'ataar, keep holding that beam in place." Ris tapped into some of the meditation techniques he'd learned from T'rohnna to aid him in avoiding muscle strain while holding the structural piece where it was needed. The Tellarite Engineer that had just barked at him aimed the welding phaser where the beam met the bulkhead, and applied a steady, coherent lance of energy to bind the two together. "That'll do," she said as the phaser was deactivated. "Good work - for an Andorian." "Never hurts to get in some damage control drills, sir - even if the instructor is a Tellarite." Both offered each other tight-lipped grins without even a hint of malice. The Tellarite people were notorious for their love of friendly, belligerent banter. == USS Yeager, Wairara system == Once the Lowry had rendezvoused with the Yeager, the coordination of transfer for the parts and supplies began. Cargo transporters hummed, cycling as often as the power conduits could handle, and the matériel could be loaded and cleared on either end of the process. One of the personnel transporter pads activated after permission to board was granted, and a tornado of silvery motes faded away to reveal a tall, lean Andorian (6' 3" according to his official records) in his Science Officer uniform. As his jade green eyes did a quick scan of the transporter room, his two antennae subtly swiveled to aid him in getting a sense of his surroundings. Those antennae, the right of which was ever so slightly crooked inward, rose on either side of a mild, blunt widow's peak of dark teal hair, which faded into his natural silvery-white hair about halfway back his scalp, and dove into a pony-tail gathered by two off-white bands. The sides of his head were close shaven, revealing the same powder-blue skin evident on his face and hands. "Midshipman Qab'ataar reporting as ordered." After the transporter chief acknowledged him, he stepped off the pad, utilizing the same calming technique he'd learned from T'rohnna to aid him in keeping his nerves under control. Moving out into the hallway adjacent to the transporter room, he stopped at a nearby comm/status LCARS panel, and deftly accessed the personnel roster screen, registering himself on board and syncing his commbadge with the Yeager's systems. Tapping his commbadge, he spoke in a low, steady baritone. "Midshipman Qab'ataar to Lieutenant Commander Qi. I'm on board, where would you like me to meet you, sir?" == Tag Qi ==

[Welcome, Qab’ataar. Cdr Jadaris and I are running some simulations in the lab. Join us here once you’ve stowed your luggage.]
"Understood, sir." He tapped his commbadge to end the transmission, then focused his attention on the LCARS panel. After determining where his quarters were, he began walking at a steady, brisk pace. >> Quarters >> |
