HD01 - Tactical Cadet Hallowette Maxas-Darl
#1
== Welcome to your holodeck Cadet Maxas-Darl,

Read the following information carefully, because it has a fair amount of important information for you.  If you have any questions or difficulties at any time, please contact one of the following people for assistance.  We’d be glad to help you out.

Commander Jasal
Commander Shanth
Captain Allen

Remember during your time at Academy people have responsibilities such as school, jobs, and family, as well as maintaining our site. There are times when we may have to wait longer than we’d like for a reply to a post or a question. Patience and treating each other with respect and dignity are two things that are absolutely required of all members.

On the flip side, the Constitution states that players need to post at least twice a week.  If you find you are unable to keep up due to something coming up in real life responsibilities or you’re just going to be on holiday, please let one of the Admins know.  You can be granted a leave of absence for the length of time you think you’ll be away.  If you don’t let us know and you suddenly disappear, this could end up with you being considered AWOL and eventually removed from the active cadet roster.

Now… with all of that said, let’s get to your character’s bio!

Please begin by posting your bio using the template below. Once posted, your bio will be reviewed by an Evaluations representative. They will post comments for you and suggest any adjustments your bio might require.  Once they approve your bio, you will be assigned an instructor and your adventure will begin!

Federation Space is a written RPG. With that said, we ask that you try to pay attention to spelling and grammar in your posts.  Posts properly formatted are easier and more enjoyable for everyone to read. I strongly recommend you run your bio and any posts you make through a spell check before posting them.

Next are a few resources that can help you as you write your bio:

Be sure to check out our playable races.

Our character development page is a great resource to help you fill out your bio form.

Along with character development is information about the Star Fleet Academy Curriculum, including Majors and Minors.

One last thing, please take time to read and understand our site’s canon page.  This will help you understand what 'Trek' related information is included on our site.

Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask!  And as always - have fun!

Physical Details:

Name: Hallowette "Hally" Maxas-Darl
Species: Bajoran/Trill Hybrid
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Height: 5'2 (1.57m)
Weight: 98lbs (44.5kg)
Build/Body Type: Athletic, yet slight of build. Hally is diminutive, even boyish in figure, but  is in excellent shape. Due to her genetic challenges, she long ago commited herself to taking her health and fitness seriously.
Complexion: Hallowette is cream skinned and freckled, her fair complexion prone to sunburns and the occasional embarrasing blushing.
Hair Colour: Auburn, with streaks that vary in shades from light to dark. The color makes for a wide spectrum of red that is never quite the same, subject to how light scatters across her hair.
Hair Style: Hally has naturally wavy hair that borders precariously on the side of curly. Even when long, her hair tends to wind its way into appearing much shorter than it is. Over the years she has styled it in a variety of ways, from very long to shorn almost completely off. Currently, It falls over her ears on the left side to just below her collar, giving the young woman a feminine, yet tomboyish look.
Facial Hair: No facial hair.
Eye Color: Hally's father was known for his piercing blue-grey eyes, and her mother for  stark, penetrating deep brown eyes that bordered black. Hally inherited neither. While her eyes have a grey cast to them, they carry a slight green sheen to them, giving them a teal cast.
Voice: Hally's neutrally accented tone is pleasantly musical in the way that she carries her speech, maintaining a certain lyrical quality that is underlied by a soft huskiness on the back end of her words. Many say her voice is her best quality, and this affirmation likely contributed in some small way to her fascination with languages and linguistics.
Off-Duty Clothing Taste: Not particularly fashion forward, Hally prefers practical clothing that is functional for whatever the days plans are. Hiking? Boots, shorts and a top that fits the weather. Holo's and chill? Baggy sweats, no makeup and bare feet. Speaking of bare feet, going barefoot is one of her great pleasures, so she is known to go sans footwear whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Distinguishing Features: Hallowette is a Bajoran/Trill Hybrid. She carries the physical marks of both of her parents species, though the features tend to be slightly more subtle than in those who are full blooded. Her nose ridges are apparent, though while her spots are easy to notice, they do seem to have faded a bit as she has matured. In any case, it takes little effort to determine her heritage. Interestingly, Hally does bear the Trill's abdominal pouch, but it remains sealed and has been determined to be wholly inadequate for any sort of joining.

Personal History

Date of Birth: October 7
Place of Birth: Starbase 2, her mother's duty station.
Marital Status: Hallowette has maintained a healthy dating life, but has yet to find anyone she desires for something more longterm. She has no particular gender preference.
Children: Negative (unable to bear children due to hybrid genetics)
Siblings: One much younger half sibling. Darl Ralora, age 10, full blooded Bajoran Female. Lives with her father and his wife Tria on Cardassia.
Mother's Name: Captain Amazi Maxas, Unjoined Trill, Starfleet Intelligence.
Father's Name: Darl Brennan, Former Bajoran Resistance leader and Starfleet Lieutenant, now serving as a UFP/Bajoran Cultural Attaché to Cardassia.
Parents' Status: Both are still alive, though her relationship with her mother is strained. She is aware that her mother is a highly placed officer in the Intelligence field and indefatigably dedicated to her job. Contact with her is rare, and not a particularly enjoyable experience.

Hallowette went to live with her Father after he joined Starfleet, then accompanied him to Cardassia when he accepted his diplomatic role. He is a doting and devoted father, and she is every bit the Daddy's girl. She is also close with her fathers wife, Darl Tria and her little sister Ralora.

Pets: Hally is an animal lover, and has had numerous pets during her life. She has a Terran K-9 Pug called 'Grumble', which lives with her father.
Best Friend: Addison Jade (AJ) Shepherd. The daughter of her father's best friend, Christopher Shepherd (which she considers close family) and someone she has been closest to the longest in her life. AJ and Hally entered the academy together, and are set to graduate at similar times.

Personal History: Hallowette was born on Starbase 2, a particularly difficult entry into the world, all in all. She was premature and her mother's Trill biology was ill prepared for carrying a child with another species DNA, so it was that mother and daughter almost perished. Her mother was called back to service soon after giving birth, so the newborn Hallowette was given to the care of her mother's parents on Trill. Hally's childhood was adequate in most ways. Her Grandparents were wealthy and influential, coming from a Trill family with the distinction of having several persons from their line chosen as hosts. As such, the Family Maxas wielded much in the social and political arena's of their native world. Hally, sadly was not a point of pride for her grandparents, though they did look after her, giving her material possessions, a upper tier education, and many children to interact with (usually the children of those wishing favor with the family). As a youth Hallowette excelled in her studies but struggled to physically keep up with her peers, her hybrid heritage manifesting to make her small of frame and slight of build. The Trill she interacted with on a daily basis showed little prejudice for her hybrid genetics, preferring to quietly judge her unfavorably in comparison to her highly successful and well regarded mother. Hally spent much time away from her home, given the freedom to spend her time in wanderlust exploring the spaces in the country that surrounded her families manor house. To her chagrin while her family hanger-ons usually sought her out, her grandparents rarely seemed to notice she was gone. Her Grandparents gave her what attention she required, but rarely any more than that.

At the age of 10 her Father, now a Starfleet Lieutenant petitioned for full custody of Hallowette. Her mother relented, eventually allowing the girl to join him on the USS Ark Royal, an aging Akira Class Peregrine Carrier where he served as Chief of Security. For Hallowette, life on a Starship was like peeling away the skin of a moba fruit, sweet, delightful, and filling. The first time the young girl stood on the observation deck and watched  binary stars rise over the edge of the world the ship orbited brought tears to her eyes. For the first time she felt free... Spending her days on a Federation ship allowed her to befriend others, both like and unlike her. Young officers and crewman took the girl under their wing, showing her the inner workings of the ship and daily operations. The pilots on the ship (one of which would become her step mother) especially enjoyed having her aboard, adopting her as a sort of mascot for the Peregrine wings. With them she learned to pilot, and subsequently discovering her love of flying.

As a teen Hallowette joined her patriarchal family in moving to Cardassia. Her father's friend from a prior assignment,  Ambassador Rigak Jeral (whom she considers a grandfather figure), encouraged him to transfer to the Diplomatic Corp. He desired for the Bajor to have a more direct influence on the new Cardassian Government, and her father's influence as a successful resistance leader leveraged the Bajoran government to petition the UFP to appoint him officially. The next 6 years of her life were spent on the fringe of the world of politics and diplomacy. Hallowette's natural ability with languages and her affable personality resulted in her being recruited to join the Federation's Youth Ambassador program. As the child of a serving Bajoran diplomatic official, she followed in his footsteps. Though her hybrid ancestry was somewhat of an anamoly, it became an easy icebreaker that opened many doors, even if initially considered a curiosity. Over the period of 18 months Hallowette met with many cultures, both peers her age and those in true power. It was here that Hallowette was given real exposure to the Galaxy, and she loved every minute of it. Once she returned home, she finished her education, and was given the option of joining a myriad of diplomatic service academy's, but in the end, after much consideration, only Starfleet Academy - and the need to soar among the stars...seemed to call to her.
To her surprise, Hally's first application to the Academy was accepted, though her subsequent curriculum seemed conveniently..easy. Suspicious of her Mother's influence she began to challenge the most difficult electives and extracuricular activities. From choirs to flight teams, Hally  never turned down something she considered hard or challenging. It hasn't always worked out for her though. her grades suffering in her first two years, firmly knocking her out of the running for top 10% of her class. During her junior year, after speaking with a trusted advisor (and her best friend Addison), she eventually relented and allowed herself to relax and enjoy the Academy for what it was. This made her junior and senior years much more enjoyable and as a result, she became much more successful in her academics. She retained her place on the Academy Flight team, but did give up most other extracirriculars.

Hallowette's time in the Academy has been to her pleasure a wonderful experience for the most part. That said though, she is eager to 'get out there' and begin her career in earnest.

Personality

Academy Majors: Tactical; Specializing in Flight Control and Communications
Academy Minors:  Shipboard Operations (OPS), Applied Diplomacy (Interspecies Relations)

Hobbies & Past-Times: Hallowette is fascinated with linquistics. As a youth she had an ear for communications, and often shunned the unversal translater, deeming it 'cumbersome and slow' compared to speaking naturally. She also is a fan of recreational cooking, hiking, singing and the occasional holo-deck adventure. Ultimately though, she most adores Lightship Sailing. Her father took her on a Lightship journey as a child, and it instilled in her a love for exploration, star journeys and flying. In the end it was this love of piloting that led her to Starfleet and her choice of Tactical over other pursuits .
Short-Term Goals: To get started on her life's adventure, visit strange new worlds, and make a positive impact on her new crewmates.
Long-Term Goals: Hally is ambitious, competitive and driven. She wants to go as far up the chain as she can while making a difference in the galaxy. Like many, she wants her own command some day, but in the end, despite the part of her nature that desires responsibility, duty, and purpose to something greater (all qualities her mother passed to her) she just desires to make the universe a bit better for having passed through it.
Personality: Hallowette is generally laidback and smiles easily. She's approachable and makes friends without much effort, though the circle close to her tends to be small. She's adventurous, confident, and grounded, but recognizes there is a lot she does not know. She can be overeager to learn when she feels her knowledge base is lacking and exhibits impatience if she is left wanting. She desires to be part of something greater, and this need to contribute is a major driving force. Her biggest issue is that she can be sensitive when she feels comparisons to her mother, which seems to happen a lot as she becomes 'more Starfleet'.
Sense of Humor: As someone who genuinely loves to make others feel validated, Hally always has a laugh or smile at the ready. She finds dry humor to be her favorite; a clever word play or call back to something said earlier is almost certain to draw a snort laugh and appreciative grin.
Phobias: Suffocating. She had an allergic reaction once as a teen that almost caused her death, and it's become a deep fear ever since. Given her bodies complex genetic reactions to certain chemicals/substances, her concerns are never too far from her thoughts.
Likes: Exotic foods, new experiences, trashy romance stories, competitive gaming, genuine people, karoke with friends.
Dislikes: Alcohol (and drunks), cruelty, bullies, insincerity, raisins, sore losers.
Pet Peeves/Gripes: Bullies and stubborn behavior, being used, not being heard or acknowledged.
Bad Habits/Vices: Anxiety laughing when feeling particularly stressed, going barefooted anytime she can. Insecurity if not given the feedback she feels she needs to grow.
Achievements: Being appointed to the UFP Youth Ambassador Program as a teenager. She traveled extensively over the period of 18 months and visited most major starfaring governments, witnessing firsthand how peace is maintained in a representative democracy.
Disappointments: Her mother and her place in her life is a major disappointment to her, and one she still struggles to overcome.
Illnesses: As a consequence of her hybrid heritage, Hally suffers from a few genetic anomalies that full Bajoran and Trill do not encounter. She is severely allergic to alcohol; One drink intoxicates her like 3 drinks, and eventually will repress her ability to breathe. Certain compounds can instill a similar reaction, or cause autoimmune responses, so she must be careful about what she encounters. As such she is exceedingly careful about her alcohol use, generally avoiding it, and careful to research new substances that might effect her negatively.

The vestigial symbiote pocket on her abdomen is subject to damage and has ruptured in the past. She has had surgery on it to abate most of the danger, but she still is sensitive about what might cause further damage to it.

Lastly, as a result of her hybrid physiology, Doctors believe she is likely unable to bear children. As having a child is not something she's planning at the moment, she tries not to think about the repurcussions of this truth.
Strengths: Hallowette is a gifted pilot and talented WSO. She excels as a linguist, a skill that has benefitted her in her youth, and one that she enjoys immensely. One of her Academy instructors referred to her as a natural born Tactical Officer.

Hally's interpersonal skills  are another strength. She demonstrates empathy, social acclimation and an easy demeanor that gives her the ability to form bonds, and create connections easily.
Weaknesses: Genetic issues notwithstanding, she has a general dislike/avoidance of blood and gore has led her to barely passing her first aid and graduation required medical classes.

Hally also harbors a deeply competitive nature. She does not like to lose, and this motivates her to often push boundries or herself to sometimes questionable heights.
Fears: Like many species, she has a fear of abandonment, but more to the point she fears being overlooked or ignored. The spectre of her Mother's success constantly eats at the back of her mind, and the emotional need to meet her ideal haunts her.

Physically, the fear of suffocation has been a point of past therapy as she has come to terms with it as a risk of space travel.
Prejudices: Her mother's early influence in her life protected her from her Bajoran species predilection towards dislike of Cardassians. Her fathers ability to overcome his extreme hatred of the grey skinned species, and her exposure to so many aliens has given her a positive and xeno forward look at most of those unlike her. Interestingly enough, Human's may be the species she has the most distaste for, but that's only because of their extreme influence in the galaxy and tendency to feel as if they are the 'heroes of every story'. Thankfully, has not been overly influential in her dealings with the species from Earth, and abates as she spends more time among them.

Questions:

Most Painful Experience: Hallowette grew up with an absent mother and father. Her mother as she was completely devoted to her career and ambition, and her father as he was forbidden from seeing her until he could 'prove himself worthy'. Hally's grandparents were generally kind, but were ultimately withdrawn and distant. Her early life on Trill was materially adequate but lonely. As a half Bajoran/Trill with specific genetic challenges she had a difficult time fitting in with other Trill children, and she often heard comparisons to her mother among her families friends and aquintances, comparisons which were rarely positive in nature. Her mother is beautiful, savvy, intelligent, and incredibly capable - a Symbiote candidate who only did not receive the honor of hosting a symbiote as it was killed during transit back to Trill. Hally, in comparison, was small, mousey and awkward. Hushed tones inadvertently informed her many times over that she was never capable of living up to her mother's legacy. It wasn't until her Father successfully joined Starfleet and overcame his troubled past as a resistance soldier that Hallowette found a loving and complete home - but the shadow of her mother looms over her always.
Best Time: Hallowette's time on the USS Ark Royal with her father was particularly joyous for the young girl. Rarely given the opportunity to travel off Trill, she grew to love Star travel and the multitude of worlds and species she was able to encounter. When her Father became a Diplomat and joined his friend on Cardassia, she was given the opportunity to experience even more, to seek her own destiny and know affection even from those who did not look or act like her.
Most Crucial Experience: She and her father sailed a lightship trip from Cardassia to Bajor every few years as she grew up. As a 16 year old she had almost ruled out following in her parents footsteps, waffling about if she was capable of living up to the high standard Starfleet demanded. Her father challenged the teen girl to prepare the ancient vessel and undertake the journey all on her own. The time spent in command of the primitive Bajoran ship, navigating in the fashion the early Bajoran explorers did - all by herself - taught her she was more capable than she ever suspected. This incident instilled in her the confidence to enter the Academy and seek a career at the helm of a Federation Starship.

Role Model: Her Father, Darl Brennan is a major influence in her life. Calm, kind, and yet fierce in regards to his passions (like many Bajorans). From Bren's early life as a child soldier, then cunning and respected resistance leader, to eventually overcoming his hatred and serving the UFP -  and eventually the people he spent so long hating is something Hally finds inspiring. Secretly though, she also looks up to her mother, Amazi Maxas, the Starfleet Captain - beautiful, cold, calculating and ambitious. How could Hallowette not aspire to be like her?
Administration
Referrer: My good friend Cat referred me. I wrote with her on another board that eventually went defunct, and she suggested I check out Federation Space!

==Apologies for the delay, I needed a second opinion on part of your bio before I made any comments!

Overall this is an excellent Bio, full of rich detail and potential for the future. The only points I really need to make are regarding Hallowette's parents:

1) Relations between the Federation and Cardassian Union are strained right now, but this is not public knowledge. It is entirely possible that the diplomats will be recalled soon, so this is something you as a player need to be prepared for.
2) Hallowette's mother working for Starfleet Intelligence is a nice touch, but in the interests of game fairness, we're going to have to ask that this not provide your character with any inside information into things, special skills, etc.

Aside from that, your Bio is approved. I'll be discussing with the other Academy Admins whether we need to run you through the full training or simply assign you the "Opt-Out" exam and get you to a ship ASAP.==

Aw, thanks!

I appreciate your kind words. It's a relief to know that Hally met the tall standard you all set, even if just as an introduction to her. I had a great time 'finding her voice' as I wrote and discovered just who she is.

Firstly, please allow me to apologize for grammar and formatting errors. I intended to go back and 'spruce' things up a bit, but I inadvertently took too long and the edit option expired. As I've explained to Cat (she's well versed with my particular grammar faux pas) I tend to put on music as a muse and then write in a long 'bluuuurgh' of stream of conscious text. Then I go back and clean it up, edit, etc. As this board has a time limit for editing etc, I'll endeavor to do my writing a bit differently as not to subject you good people to my personal particular brand of illiteracy, haha.

Also, great points on the bio. If I may, I'll address them to alleviate any concerns.

I was aware of the issues that the Cardassian's and the UFP have had, and expected to need to tweak her father's relationship with them a bit. I actually really like that the tenuous relations are not common knowledge, and as Hallowette has been away for almost 5 years, isn't something she would be aware of. It actually gives a bit of depth to Bren's role as a diplomat to know that he's actively navigating diplomatic issues while she's at the Academy, and seemingly seeing to the security of his position as well. It will give a really good bit of emotional turmoil should her family be recalled, given the relationships she developed on Cardassia and the very real possibility that she may be required to act against those interests as an Officer of the Federation.

As to Hally's mother, it's well within her nature to withhold things and choose her duty over any personal attachment. She's absolutely dedicated to her career which is one of Hal's issues - to the point that Hally wouldn't even dare to ask. Hallowette is motivated to succeed not DESPITE of her mother but IN SPITE of her. So your guidelines are absolutely aligned with my thoughts for that relationship.

In any case, please let me know how I can make anything easier. I'm eager to begin contributing and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Thank you again!

You must demonstrate the ability to use what you have learned about our posting formats; third person past-tense perspective, italics, bolding, double spacing, proper spelling and grammar and open ended posting.

General Questions:

1. What is contained in a Standard Medkit?

⦁ A medical tricorder
⦁ Two hyposprays preloaded with up to six pharmaceuticals each.
⦁ A dermal regenerator
⦁ A tourniquet
⦁ Gauze
⦁ Other emergency equipment

2. What could be the possible effects of Dark Matter on normal space?

⦁ High concentrations of dark matter can create small gaps in the fabric of normal space. Normal matter passing through these areas can become momentarily phased in unpredictable ways, creating transient electrical currents similar to those created by a subspace distortion but without any trace of a subspace field.
⦁ Dark matter can also act to degrade the performance of sensors against normal matter, making dark matter nebulas a good choice for hiding oneself.

3. Where can you find important news for all site members?

⦁ Red Alert Area of the Forum, which includes the Admin Announcements, Monthly Points, Creative and Content Team, and Recruiting boards.

Located at: https://fed-space.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=23

4. Who, besides the Captain, can give direction in a plotline or subplot?

⦁ GM's and CO's are the originators of plots and subplots. First Officers are tasked with keeping players involved in plots and subplots in a satisfying way. DH Officers keep tabs on this process and ensure the Senior Leaders are aware if something is lacking.

5. Who currently commands the USS Artemis?

⦁ Captain Cassandra Givens

6. What is the highest security rating in Starfleet?

⦁ Rating 9 - Ultra Secret

7. What is the definition of a Type F plasma Torpedo?

⦁ The least powerful plasma torpedo, the Type F still packs a pretty good punch. This variation of the Plasma requires roughly the same amount of energy to arm as the photon torpedo. However, it takes approximately 33% longer to arm this weapon. Like all plasma torpedoes, it begins losing warhead strength the instant it is launched. A full strength strike yields twice the power of a photon torpedo. All plasma torpedoes lose 5% of their warhead strength for every 10,000km travelled.

8. List all player Starships currently used on Federation Space.

⦁ The Vesta Class USS Artemis, NCC-110000, The Ross Class USS Aquila, NCC-76853, The Luna Class USS Titania, NCC-88002, The Yeager-II Class USS Yeager, NCC-60097

9. Describe the “Sulu Loop”

⦁ Often referred to by pilots as "s-looping" or "slooping", the Sulu Loop is ideal for a ship quickly turning around and returning to the fight. The Sulu Loop involves banking the ship to one direction, before using attitude thrusters to rotate the ship 180° along its axis so ultimately it has changed its heading by 225°. Due to the stresses performed on the spaceframe during this maneuver, especially at greater velocities, it is not recommended to attempt this maneuver in anything larger than a Light Cruiser.

10. What class area will you find a chart of "Technobabble" terms?

⦁ In Game Problem Solving, located at: https://wiki.fed-space.com/index.php?tit..._He_Say.3F

11. Where are the rank abbreviations located?

⦁ Rank Explanation: https://wiki.fed-space.com/index.php?tit...xplanation

12. In what way is a Binary Star a twin?

⦁ A binary star is considered a "twin" because it is a system of two stars that are gravitationally bound to each other, meaning they orbit a common center of mass, essentially "circling" one another like twins would, making them appear as a pair in space; they are born together and share a similar origin, much like identical twins do on Earth.

13. How many points do you need for promotion to Lieutenant?
⦁ 7500

14. What type of star is the Sun in the Sol System?

⦁ Spectral Class G2V

15. Write an example of your introductory post when reporting in to your assigned ship. This post must contain all standard formatting as described above. This is an exercise in creative writing and we need to see what your writing abilities are like. 3-4 line posts are not acceptable and will be considered failing. We are looking for 3-4 good length paragraphs.

Indigo plumes of ancient dust, ice and rock danced in whirling maelstrom as the lone Type-9A shuttlecraft dipped and maneuvered, the small vessels driver coils to stirring up cosmic detritus, scattering it like an unrestrained brushstroke against the canvas of stars. The pilot smiled despite herself, her excitement barely constrained - as unlimited as it was driven by the enormity of the life event that was about to take place.

The young woman had been thrilled to be selected to fly the shuttle of new crew to their new assignment. Sure, it was just across the sector, but still - she felt honored that the handlers at Starfleet Academy had considered her reliable to ferry herself and the small cadre of new graduates and enlistees to their new ship. But then, she *was* an officer in Starfleet now.

Midshipman Hallowette Maxas-Darl.

She had done it. She had succeeded. Almost Five years, a major, two minors and a very eventful Senior Flight Team tour had led her to this. Her last flight before she officially became a member of a Starfleet Ships crew; her dream realized. The beginning of something that made her more than just a girl dreaming of seeing the galaxy - the very real realization that she could make a difference in the universe. That she was more. That she was enough. She was a Starfleet Officer.

Looming before her was her destination and the cause of elation, anxiety, and nervousness housed by the streaking craft under her control.

[Shuttle La Fiere to USS (Assigned Vessel Here), permission to dock at your ready.] Hallowette chirped as she approached. She caught herself holding her breath as she awaited the ships response.

[USS (Assigned Vessel) to La Fiere, permission granted in Hangar bay 1. Welcome aboard folks.] came the reply.

"Well they seem nice." she said under her breath, her hands trembling slightly as a new dose of anticipation washed through her.

The shuttle entered the hangar and Hally relaxed her arms into her lap as flight bay's tractor beam guided the vessel to its resting place.

"Well, here we are." said an anxious looking crewman wearing the gold stripes of an engineer.

Next to him a denobulan female wearing teal  grinned her species trademark broad smile. She placed a reassuring hand on the man's arm and nodded with affirmation, "Gordon, We have worked hard. We have achieved. You, we, are Starfleet. We deserve to be here."

Hally unbuckled herself from the pilots chair and swung herself out from under the console. She stood and took a moment to straighten her uniform. Black trimmed with red. She blushed slightly as she caught sight of herself in the reflective surface of the shuttle's canopy. She still grew harvest pimples around her spots when she saw herself in uniform. For a moment she saw her father looking back at her, and her thoughts darted to how proud he had looked as she crossed the stage and recieved her commission.

"Coming Hally? Don't want to be late for our first day!" teased the other commissioned officer aboard, a human female she knew well.

She averted her gaze from the reflection, suddenly self consious, and she grinned warmly and addressed her friend. "Meesha, Starfleet Pilots make time catch up with us." she said jokingly, echoing the oft mentioned mantra of one of her Academy instructors, the memory helping to calm the sudden burst of nerves that arose as the shuttle's hatch began to open, and the reality of the situation was made real. Just beyond was her future. Her career.

"Starfleet Pilots command the stars." she said quietly under her breath, finishing the mantra that she and her fellow flight team pilots had declared so many times before.

The moment had arrived, and Hallowette wasn't about to be the last one off the shuttle. This moment was hers. She stood straight, her slight frame seeming taller than her 1.57m. She squeezed past the others milling on the shuttle and made her way to the exit, Her booted feet stepping onto the deck of her new home, clapping softly as she made her way to the Officer standing near the entrance of the hangar holding a DATAPADD.

"Hallowette Maxas-Darl, Midshipman, reporting as ordered." she said with confidence and slight bravado. "I'm ready for duty Sir. Tell me where I'm needed."

The sparkle in her teal eyes held the smile she didn't allow on her face. She had made it.

Starfleet Pilots Command the Stars.

==Congratulations on your graduation, Midshipman!

Given your recruiter is on that ship and we try to pair recruiters with recruits, you have been assigned to the USS Artemis. Captain Crawford will contact you shortly with instructions on how to introduce your character, since the Artemis has already begun her most recent adventure.

If you have any problems prior to reporting aboard, please feel free to reach out to the Academy Admins or I!

Good luck, and welcome to Federation Space!==
