==CO Quarters== Later the day of the ceremony==

Captain Brooks entered his quarters and was surprised how much larger it was compared to the Charon.

Dan went over to his desk, he then placed the PADD on it before walking around behind and sitting down. He noticed there was a message on his terminal from Doctor Lim in regards to Ensign Mala, it was an invite to a meeting at the CMO Office the next day. It seemed at this moment his days were full of meetings and nothing that exciting. Dan hoped this wouldn't be the long term future of being on such a big ship.

On the other hand, it was very exciting being in command of such a vessel.

He had given the order to the helm to take them back to the starbase at warp 4 as there was no rush and Command hadn't given them any orders yet.

Dan knew the first meeting tomorrow was to be with Commander Velaul as they would have sorted and doubled checked the rosters. The DH's would of had chance to get to know their departments and crew.

Brooks confirmed his attendance to Lim before he then decided to pick up another PADD, moved over to the couch and put his feet up to have a rest.

== Captain's Quarters ==

A voice broke out that the Captain would recognize of the petite Vulcan COB.

[Chief T'Kol to Captain Brooks. The transport with Lieutenant Commander Ch'Alev has rendezvoused with us. I am currently on my way to greet him in the Transporter room One.] She reported.

Daniel was in the middle of reading up on his PADD when his commbadge chirped into life with the Chief of the Boats voice,

[Chief T'Kol to Captain Brooks. The transport with Lieutenant Commander Ch'Alev has rendezvoused with us. I am currently on my way to greet him in the Transporter room One.] She reported.

Captain Brooks tapped his commbadge and r replied, "Thank you T'Kol, keep me posted. I will meet our new officer in due course. Brooks out."

Dan had seen Commander ch'Alev on a couple of social occasions when they had been on a Starbase but not to actually talk to. He knew that Beno had served with the officer and hoped that she hadn't been made aware of the situation as it would be a nice surprise for her.

In their downtime, when he and Beno had the odd social encounter off duty she would talk fondly of the crew of her previous assignment. It only seemed that the temporary CTO would be the ch'Alev.

He leaned back and finished reading the PADD, it was a report from the previous CO with all the current system status and any issues they encountered when in charge of the Aquila. Dan got up from his seat and replicated himself a cup of peppermint tea. He went over to the desk and placed the cup on it as he took a seat behind the desk. He updated his roster to making a meeting with ch'Alev to report in. Which would be the next day when they all took on their official duties.

He knew that Commander Kurasa was on duty for the Bridge but had been called away on another issue but as the roster wasn't fully in action yet.

==After arrival at DS9==

Daniel pour himself a large vodka and added a tiny splash of coke into it as he moved across to his couch. Sitting down he slipped his boots off and put his feet up.

Out of the window he could see part of the DS9 station as Dan took a sip of the cool liquid, feeling the slight fizz of the coke and the warmth of the vodka as it went down his throat.

Closing his eyes he thought back to all those Christmas times as he grew up. It was totally different once you became an adult. Being so far away from home as made him feel a little homesick at this time of year. Even through Dan wouldn't admit it to anyone. It was duty first and family second.

Having had a few romances in the past, Brooks had decided it best to leave that to one side for now and concentrate on his ship and the family of officers. He knew having someone with you could be a blessing but also a curse as it could sometimes cloud your judgement on a situation.

Opening his eyes he exhaled a large breath out of his nose as he reflected on his thoughts. One of which popped into his head was the FO telling him to have some proper down time while they were at DS9.

Dan wasn't so sure if that would be a good idea, he didn't feel like mingling and making small talk but on the other hand it might do him good. Problem was he knew unlike being the FO once your the CO the crew don't seem to want to be so open with you.

Taking another big sip of his drink, Dan thought about how well the two crews had merged, how he was looking forward to working more closely with each of the DH's to get to know them better. The Aquila was a big ship and Dan wanted to make sure it was a well oiled machine ready for anything.

The one specter which was on his back was trying not to let Command down with him. Having put their faith in his abilities he felt weather or not he had to show them that they were right in giving him the CO position and such a tremendous ship with other great leaders he was following.
