Arriving in the transporter room the short trip in the lift had been a quiet one.

As they stepped up onto the transporter pad, Brooks looked at the others in his away team.

"I selected you for your knowledge and experience. Lets be careful not to rock the boat before we know what is actually going on." Brooks said really noting it more to himself then the others.

Looking to the transporter chief he said,

"Energize."

The away team disappeared into the blue haze.

Not far behind the others, Lt Thorn entered and saw that it looked like she had made a good call on not grabbing an entire tool kit, but just to cover her backside, she said, "Sir, are you going to want me to grab any specific gear?"

While waiting to hear his reply, she reached down and silenced the small device on her belt. If she wasn't bringing a kit, she wouldn't be bringing DeeDee's drone unit either. These people sounded paranoid enough and she didn't think it was a good idea for what might be a diplomatic mission.

Before they beamed down Thorn asked if there was anything else she would need to bring,

"At this stage, not as far as I know." said Brooks, "This conversation with the Ambassador will be the way of getting to know what he is in real need of." replied the Captain.

Shione arrived. took her tricorder from the Security NCO and passed out Phasers with holsters to all of the away team.

"Please confirm the phaser is charged, and I suggest facing out as we do not know who or how many people will be there to greet us."

With that she strode to the back of the platform and faced away.

"Whenever you are ready."

Lt Thorn gave a polite nod and responded, "Understood, Captain."

Kurasa handed out weapons, which Kalli then followed their lead in how they were wanting them displayed or concealed.

She then followed the example of the others and took a position on the transporter pad.

As Brooks and Thorn returned to the Aquila he couldn't help thinking it was a case they would have to back the right horse and not be swayed by political maneuvers to coerce them in the wrong direction.

"Lieutenant, I want you to work on a back up plan for if there is a chance a rescue attempt is a trap. In the meantime I will go and see what Commander Velaul has got for me."

Brooks headed out the door of the Transporter Room and to the nearest turbolift.

Lt Thorn turned to the Captain and looked into his eyes for just a second or two of pause before responding with a nod, "Aye, sir. Should such a situation present itself, I will be prepared to discuss options for you."

She slowly stepped down off the transporter pad and walked toward the door. Her mind was concerned about the mission now. Until this minute, she had thought it was just another diplomatic mission and these might be some complications, but nothing out of the ordinary. To be completely honest, she wasn't overly experienced in diplomatic matters, so she really didn't have much to go on. Still...the fact that the Captain wasn't asking this of his Security people, that told her something. She wondered for a moment if perhaps he knew more about her past than she thought. However, in the time she had been with him, she had become known for her less than conventional approach to things at times. Kalli would admit that there were times when she was more willing than some to bend or even break a few rules to accomplish the mission. The thought crossed her mind that if the standard tactics didn't work out, he might need something the other side wouldn't expect as a Federation response.

As Kalli walked through the door and headed toward Engineering, a grin appeared on her face. Unpredictable? THAT she could do. The tricky part would be if the Captain wanted any of the bad guys to live through the process. THAT might be more of a challenge, but she would call that version Plan B.

Beno was the first to arrive and she had a small package in her hand, it was a gift to be presented later. Right now she was waiting on her crew to get there, seeing how there was only two people it shouldn’t take long. They were heading into a possible volatile situation, and showing some respect can be helpful. Lieutenant Mala would be directed to stand to the right of Beno, while Reese was instructed to stand to her left. He was also instructed to hold on to the gift while they were travelling, when it was time for preparation Beno would give it to him.


“Three to beam down.” Beno said while getting ready to go down to the surface. There was a lot riding in this, and Beno wanted to get it right.

Jez quickly stopped by her quarters to pick up a few weapons just in case they were needed . She tied her hair in a ponytail and secured it with a hair comb that doubled as a dagger

Jez arrived in the Transporter room and saw Commander Velaul “Commander, what are we heading into, Are we expecting trouble?” Said Jez. “Commander, I brought extra Phasers, just in case.” Said Jez while she patted her backpack. As just took the right hand position next to Commander Velaul.

Getting to the Transporter Room with three hand phasers, Tayler knew they were all in functional order. It was standard practice to make sure, or the consequences were high. "Commander" He said while handing her a phaser. "Lieutenant." Again as he was giving her a weapon. He wasn't big on much words when he was nervous, he wasn't sure what kind of situation that he was going into so it was best just to listen to what was.

There wasn't much instruction to go on, just take his position and carry something. It was his big chance to work on an Away team, with the only question was what was going to happen with it? Hopefully the phaser was going to be a decoration on his hip, if not they will have to have full concentration.

==Transporter Chief Lt Massey==

During away missions, especially when there is potential threat to the team the Chief preferred to be the officer on duty. And while there had been some changes of the Away team's personnel this had been up til now a routine mission, at least until...

[Commander Kurasa to Transporter room, Bridge and Medical; we need an emergency medical beam out of the Ambassador to Medical, stat! He has been struck in the torso by some form of weapon and without immediate Medical care he will perish, Beam him directly to Sickbay; we have no time to lose; Energize now!]

The Security Chief's tone was urgent but without emotion.

The Lieutenant's training kicked in as he made the necessary alterations to the normal beam up procedures and locked into both the Ambassador, but also a medical bed that was assigned for just such a need. He knew that the medical team would be on station with an Away team down below and also that the assigned bed would be empty and linked his comm to Main Sickbay and the Bridge.

As he engaged the transport he then tapped the comm link to Medical and the Bridge

"Engaging site to site transport, now. Energizing"

The interference produced by Riani technology made Massey’s task difficult, but not impossible. With some effort, he was able to establish a signal lock on the ambassador and transport him directly to Sick Bay.

Shortly after that miracle of transporting the gravely ill Ambassador a priority message from the Second officer came across the Comm.

[Commander Kurasa to Transporter room one. Please establish a transporter lock on the adult and two children in the Ambassador's suite and then establish contact with the family there and inform then that should they feel at anytime; that they are in danger that you can beam them to safety, Kurasa out.]

The comm address for the Ambassador's quarters was easily accessible and after identifying himself Lt. Massey communicated with the Ambassador's partner; informing him that should he ever feel that his life and the lives of the children was in jeopardy that all he needed to do was to make contact with the current link and they would be transported to the Federation ship in orbit.

After a brief discussion the Lieutenant was confident that should something threaten the family that the transporter room would be contacted immediately.
