== Welcome to your holodeck, Cadet T'Varel
Read the following information carefully, because it has a fair amount of important information for you. If you have any questions or difficulties at any time, please contact one of the following people for assistance. We’d be glad to help you out.
Commander Jasal
Commander Shanth
Captain Allen
Remember, during your time at the Academy, people have responsibilities such as school, jobs, and family, as well as maintaining our site. There are times when we may have to wait longer than we’d like for a reply to a post or a question. Patience and treating each other with respect and dignity are two things that are absolutely required of all members.
On the flip side, the Constitution states that players need to post at least twice a week. If you find you are unable to keep up due to something coming up in real-life responsibilities or you’re just going to be on holiday, please let one of the Admins know. You can be granted a leave of absence for the length of time you think you’ll be away. If you don’t let us know and you suddenly disappear, this could end with you being considered AWOL and eventually removed from the active cadet roster.
Now… with all of that said, let’s get to your character’s bio!
Please begin by posting your bio using the template below. Once posted, your bio will be reviewed by an Evaluations representative. They will post comments for you and suggest any adjustments your bio might require. Once they approve your bio, you will be assigned an instructor and your adventure will begin!
Federation Space is a written RPG. With that said, we ask that you try to pay attention to spelling and grammar in your posts. Posts properly formatted are easier and more enjoyable for everyone to read. I strongly recommend you run your bio and any posts you make through a spell check before posting them.
Next are a few resources that can help you as you write your bio:
Be sure to check out playable races.
Our character development page is a great resource to help you fill out your bio form.
One last thing, please take time to read and understand our site’s canon page. This will help you understand what 'Trek' related information is included on our site.
Again, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! And as always - have fun!

Date of Birth: April 23rd
Place of Birth: Vulcan

Siblings Name & Ages: T’Varel has three siblings. Her oldest sister, T’Gracie Williams, died at age 14. T’Gracie was 4 years older than T’Varel. T’Varel has a twin sister named Mia Williams. She also has an adopted Klingon brother named Alexander Williams; nickname Alex. Alex is 20 years old.
Mother's Name: Stacy Williams (Human)
Father's Name: Savok Williams (Vulcan)
Parent's Status: Both are alive but divorced when T’Varel was 10 years old.
Pets: An orange tabby cat named Ollie.
Best Friend: T’Varel’s best friend is named Penelope Ross, a human female aged 22. They met on the U.S.S. Stardust when T’Varel was around 6 years old. Penelope is learning to be a school teacher on Earth. She is surprisingly calm and logical for a human. They have kept in touch over the years and often pay each other surprise visits. Penelope is married to a human man named Kurt Ross. They have two newborn twin sons, Max and Benjamin, that T’Varel considers her nephews.
Personal History: T’Varel Williams was born on April 23rd on the planet Vulcan, alongside her fraternal twin sister, Mia. Their parents, Lt. Commander Stacy Williams and Lt. Commander Savok Williams, were on temporary assignment from the U.S.S. Stardust at the Vulcan Science Academy. Stacy was assisting with a Federation/Vulcan mental health exchange program, and Savok was conducting important scientific research.
Though only a few weeks old when the family returned to the U.S.S. Stardust, T’Varel’s earliest environment was shaped by Vulcan culture. Her father insisted on maintaining Vulcan infant developmental practices, such as structured sleep cycles, early sensory training, and exposure to calm environments, while her mother balanced this with human warmth and flexibility. Even as a toddler, T’Varel displayed a quiet, observant nature that set her apart from her more expressive twin.
Growing up on a starship gave T’Varel a unique childhood. The Stardust was a Constitution class exploratory vessel, and its crew became an extended family. T’Varel was known for wandering the corridors with a small data padd, absorbing and studying information far beyond what others in her age group were learning. Her father encouraged her curiosity, using up almost all of his vacation time to take T’Varel to other planets so she could learn more about other cultures.
At age six, T’Varel met Penelope Gordon, the daughter of two civilian science specialists aboard the Stardust. Penelope’s calm, thoughtful demeanor resonated with T’Varel, and the two formed a steady, lifelong friendship. Penelope was one of the few humans who never seemed unsettled by T’Varel’s ‘cold’ Vulcan logic.
Tragedy struck when T’Varel was ten. Her older sister, T’Gracie, died in a transporter malfunction when coming back from a school field trip to Earth. The transporter chief failed to get a signal lock and her pattern vanished. The loss destroyed the family. Savok chose to conceal and ignore the emotions, while Stacy struggled with grief in a very human way. T’Varel processed the event with a quiet intensity, implementing the Vulcan teachings on emotional regulation but never fully escaping the emotional grief of losing a sibling she admired.
Six months after T’Gracie’s death, her parents divorced. The strain of cultural differences, grief, and conflicting approaches to raising hybrid children had grown too great. After the divorce was finalized, Stacy moved to different quarters on board the Stardust. The twins went back and forth between quarters, their close bond being the only constant in their lives.
This period shaped T’Varel’s identity profoundly. She embraced Vulcan discipline more fully, seeking stability in logic and routine. Her father, recognizing the emotional complexity of a hybrid child, ensured she received guidance from Vulcan tutors and exposure to Vulcan philosophy. Yet she also maintained strong ties to her mother and sister, her human side finding comfort in their more emotional and empathetic demeanours.
Around this time, Savok adopted Alexander, a young Klingon orphan rescued during a mission. Alex was fiery, impulsive, and loud, but he bonded quickly with T’Varel, who became a grounding presence for him. Their sibling dynamic was unusual but deeply loyal.
At fourteen, T’Varel left the Stardust to attend a Federation preparatory academy on Earth. Her mother believed she needed exposure to her human heritage, and Savok agreed it would broaden her perspective. The transition was challenging. Human peers often misinterpreted her stoic nature as coldness, and she found the emotions of her peers difficult to understand.
Still, she excelled academically. Her interests gravitated toward xenobiology, psychology, and interspecies diplomacy. She also developed a disciplined athletic routine, participating in Vulcan martial arts and human track events.
Her friendship with Penelope deepened during these years, as Penelope also moved to Earth to pursue training in the field of education. T’Varel often visited her, finding comfort in the familiar steadiness of their bond.
T’Varel entered Starfleet Academy at seventeen, following in both her parents’ footsteps.
At the Academy, T’Varel adopted Ollie, an orange tabby cat who seemed unbothered by her Vulcan demeanor and often slept on her study materials. Ollie is the mate of Penelope’s pet cat Violet. The two have two female kittens and one male kitten named Tegan, Dylan, and Reece.
Now in her final year at the Academy, T’Varel stands at the threshold of her Starfleet career. She still maintains close ties with her family and friends. Her mother is a counselor on Earth, and her father is now the Chief Medical Officer on the Stardust. Mia has joined Starfleet Academy to pursue a career in Counseling, following in her mother’s footsteps. T’Varel is disappointed that her twin chose to embrace her human side rather than her more logical Vulcan side, but still supports Mia in her decisions. Alex joined Starfleet Academy as well, pursuing a career as a Security Officer.
Penelope married a man named Kurt Ross, and legally changed her name to Penelope Ross. The wedding was held on Earth and T’Varel was the Maid of Honor.
She frequently visits Penelope, Kurt, and their newborn twins, Max and Benjamin, whom she regards with quiet affection.
T’Varel’s life has been shaped by duality, Vulcan and human, logic and emotion, starship and planet, loss and resilience. She approaches her future with the calm certainty of someone who has gone through drastic change and emerged stronger for it.

== Thank you so much!!! ==
== Hello Cadet T'Varel, and welcome to Federation Space RPG, otherwise known as Fed Space. Fed Space is a great game and community. My name is Lieutenant Black, I’ll be your Academy Instructor, helping you get ready for your time on ship. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask me here or dm me.
Before we move on to the first lesson, I want to make sure you're aware of the great resource our wiki provides. It has a lot of information, including what your department duties will be. Take some time to review:
https://wiki.fed-space.com/index.php?tit...ce_Officer
The wiki also includes an Academy section that contains a lot of resources for you. Be sure to take some time to review them, especially the New Cadet FAQ, while you’re there. We’ll use the wiki later in our lessons, so it’s helpful for you to start navigating it now.
With that out of the way, let’s get started: Lesson one: Formatting basics
Third Person, Past Tense:
Fed Space has players all over the world, so we use a standardised set of formatting rules. By using one style, it makes it easier for everyone to follow and understand each other’s posts.
The first thing to know is that we post in third person, past tense. An example of this style of writing would be: Amelina was so excited to be finally taking her final examination, she fell off her seat. NOT: I fell off my seat because I was so excited to take my final examination.
We also use double spacing between paragraphs and character’s spoken lines. This means when you write a spoken line with quotation marks “ ”, leave a space after. This makes it easier for players to follow. A good rule to follow is ‘When in doubt, double space!’
Your Character’s Internal Thoughts
To show your character’s own thoughts, we use italics. When writing your character’s thoughts, it’s acceptable to write in first person. An example of showing my character’s thoughts would look like: I can’t wait to visit my home town again and see my Father
Showing Emphasis
To make something really stand out in your post, such as if your character was shouting, we use bold text. An example of showing emphasis for my character would look like: Black loved a good cup of coffee, especially with a bit of cinnamon.
Telepathic Communication
In general, it is rare for a character to have the ability to communicate telepathically, and because of this, it is closely monitored by our Senior and Commanding Officers to make sure it isn’t abused. With that said, there are a few telepathic races on Fed Space, and on occasion, telepaths will speak to each other through this unique skill. Telepathic communication is shown like this:
~ Hello, I am speaking directly into your mind. ~
If your character is not telepathic, then, in general, you won’t need to worry about this technique, but I want you to be aware it exists in case you see crewmembers on your ship or others using it.
Using Communication Badges or Comm Badges
Characters can often receive verbal communications through a communication device, such as a comm badge, from another crew member or the computer. When receiving a message, you should drop the quotations “ ” and instead use brackets [ ].
For example, if I received a message from another officer, it would look something like this:
[Captain Allen to Lieutenant Black, please report to Holodeck 5.]
If you are the one speaking to somebody through a comm device, you would still use the quotations “ ”.
Out Of Character posting or OOC:
OOC posting is what I’m doing now. OOC text is surrounded by == ==. Use OOC when you want to talk to another player and not write it as part of the storyline. You won’t need to do this in general discussion areas, such as your ship’s OOC sections like Crew Announcements, as well as in Hailing Frequencies.
Proofing Posts:
When writing a post, it’s important to take time to run your posts through the spell check that many writing software offers. Spell check won’t find all grammar and spelling errors, but it will find many and help correct errors found. Rereading your post can help catch errors. We don’t need anyone to be a speller or grammar whiz, but taking the time to do this extra step will make it easier for everyone to understand what’s written.
A good way to get the feel of these formatting rules and to get a feel of the site in general is to browse the different ship forums. Take some time to look at the different ships. Take time to notice how our players use the elements listed above.
With all that said, let’s get to some posting! Your first assignment is to respond to my post using the above formatting elements. If you have any questions, ask. Good luck and have fun! ==
== Holodeck 03 - 12:00 hrs ==
Standing outside the holodeck, Theresa stood arms crossed with her PADD tucked under her left arm waiting for her new Cadet to arrive. It was her nature to arrive early, because if you were late, you're on time.
Checking the time one more time, she tapped her badge. “Lieutenant Black to Cadet T'Varel.” She said, her distinctive high pitched west-country accent echoing slightly in the corridor. “Please report to Holodeck 03 for assessment.”
