CH/01 - Bridge

== The Bridge of the Charon is almost circular, The walls and carpet are standard Star Fleet beige and grey, while freestanding consoles are trimmed in faux chrome to meet 25th-century aesthetic.

On the forward wall of the Bridge rests the holo-viewscreen system, which can be activated vocally or via manual input from any console when required. To one side is the entrance to the Observation Lounge and to the other is a forward position turbolift.

Immediately aft of this is the Helm and Operations consoles which sits on a slightly raised platform, flanked by the Tactical station to the officer's right and the Engineering station to their left. These stations can be easily reconfigured if required in an emergency.

Moving back, another step up leads to the command area. The Commanding Officer sits in the central Command Chair with, the First Officer on their right and mission specialist to their left if required and both CO and FO chairs have smaller terminals built into the armrests.

To the right of the Command center are consoles for Science 1, Environment and Science while to the left is Engineering 2, Mission Ops and Science 2.  Directly behind the Command Chairs is Tactical and on the rear wall of the Bridge the Master System Display. One side with access to Captains Ready Room and on the other is a Turbolift to access the Bridge.

Luna had been spending some quality time with her sister and niece of recent and had now opted to finish up doing some final preparations to her Bridge console, checking that everything was to her personal liking on the operation front of the console and that she could navigate it with ease.

The Bridge was quiet and Pond was enjoying the calm, chatting away to some junior engineering crew making a few last minute checks. It was then she heard the voice of the Captain on the Comms.

[Crew this is the Captain, you are recalled and we are to leave the base within the hour. All Department Heads to report readiness in forty five minutes. Brooks out.]

Luna quickly checked Security, even though she had only put the finishing touches to her checks of the department at the end of her last shift, she was one chief who insisted on having her finger on the metaphorical pulse of her department at all times.

After about half an hour checking absolutely everything in detail. Pond hit her own comm badge.

"Pond to Brooks... Security is green to go on your order. I can be found on the Bridge if needed Sir... Pond out"

Luna went onto do last minute security sweeps of the ship, while she waited for orders or other senior staff to join her.

<<<Ready Room<<<

The door to the Ready Room opened and Captain Brooks strolled out onto the aft of the Bridge. There was a few officers milling about as the crews changed over from the skeleton crew on shore leave to crews in each of the department areas. The routine was so smooth you wouldn't really notice the change over.

Dan saw Luna on the Security console, "Hello Commander Pond." he said moving around the Bridge and down into the Command area.

Brooks stood in front of the Command chair and said, "Lieutenant Farrell, once all departments have reported in, start our launch procedure, once we are clear of the no warp zone I will give you the coordinates for where we are heading."

"Aye sir." replied Farrell.

Brooks knew how twitchy the crew will get knowing how close they were going to be in Cardassian space.

She had been on the turbo lift many times, but this one seemed longer. The past didn't matter anymore, and the only thing that was is the future. When thoes doors opened, moving forward was the only direction for her at this point. From the time that they move away from the station, the only thing that mattered was the destination, and the mission at hand. If the baggage from the past was aloud to seep in, than it could compromise the next mission.

When the doors of the lift did open to the Bridge, she noticed Dan and Luna were already there. It was unusual that she wasn't first, but sometimes things change. "Captain and Commander hopefully you had time to defrost, I am still a little cold but that's normal." She said while going over to the Science station. Beno was going to call her new Science Officer up to the Bridge, but wanted to alot enough tome for her to climatize to her new ship.

Dan heard the door of the turbolift open and turned to see it was Commander Velaul entering the Bridge,

"Captain and Commander hopefully you had time to defrost, I am still a little cold but that's normal." She said while going over to the Science station.

Brooks smiled and said, "We have a saying, cold hands, warm heart."

As he then put himself down into the Command chair. Taking a look around it seemed that most of the team had arrived. He just hoped what ever they were sailing into wouldn't cause a political incident.

Each of the departments reported their readiness as Lt Farrell took them out of dock and headed them towards the no warp zone limit. Pressing one of the buttons on the armrest of the chair Brooks opened a channel to the ship,

"Attention Crew this is your Captain. We have been tasked with a little bit of urgency to head out to a mining colony based on an astroiod near the Cardassian boarder as communications have been cut off, we are tasked to investigate to see if they are okay and to render any assistance if required. Being near the Cardassian boarder we will of course have to be very aware that any movements we make so close to it will be monitored by our friendly neighbor and we have to be careful of any political stance that may arise from this. Brooks out."

He then closed the channel as they came up to the no warp zone.

"Lieutenant take us to warp seven and engage."

The Charon's nacelles came up bright blue before she jumped into warp.

K'Rora stepped out of the turbolift as she surveyed the bridge for a while. It was her first time here, and she slowly took it all in before she nodded, and walked towards the science station just as she listened to the Captain's announcement.

"Attention Crew this is your Captain. We have been tasked with a little bit of urgency to head out to a mining colony based on an astroiod near the Cardassian boarder as communications have been cut off, we are tasked to investigate to see if they are okay and to render any assistance if required. Brooks out."

K'Rora frowned slightly as she took it all in, before she flicked her tail, arriving at the science station, and nodding in respect to Commander Velalul. "Commander. Nice to see you. Good morning." She gestured to the science station. "May I?" She quickly pressed a few buttons, running diagnostics and making sure all the sensors were working before she looked over to the captain for a moment, speaking loud and clear. "Science labs and Science department is a go, Captain. All sensors are operating within normal parameters." before turning to the First Officer. "Care to... show me the ropes, as the saying goes?" A rare twinkle showed in her eyes.

Moving towards the Cardasian boarder wasn't the worst news that she could have heard, there were a couple of places that Beno didn't like more. The difference was with Cardasians its like high steaks poker, and they always cheat. It was the one thing that was consistent about them, even when they lie there is always some level of truth. They also have a beautiful culture that often gets overlooked, instead they focus on their military and their wrong doings.

When K'Rora came onto the Bridge Beno smiled. "Good morning Ensign, its a great day for a trip close to the Cardasian boarder." When she was about to active the sensors "By all means." She watched her work the sensors, and make sure that they were running smoothly. It was always the first thing that they should do, and then came the talk about the ropes.

"You can say that yes, and help you discover your groove." It was an outdated statement that people use, qnd it is still good. "Lieutenant Young is also happy to help you with it too, we are all about helping each other and building each other up." It was what they did as leaders.

"Just remember when we get close to our destination to use passive sensors only, we don't want to panic the locals." There wasn't much to be said about the relationship between the Cardasians and the Federation, other to say it was hostile. If it was detected, they might want to pick a fight.

Dan was pleased to see the new Ensign was on the Bridge alongside Commander Velaul at the Science station, he knew Beno would be a great mentor to the young officer.

As the Charon powered up to warp seven he couldn't help thinking of the years of being in Command of a Luna Class has been very interesting, now she was on another mission that could affect the political federation map and he knew it depended on weather the Cardassians would leave it to them or take an interest.

The Charon powered along smoothly and all departments were working fine, there was nothing much more to do in preparation for the travel so Captain Brooks decided he leave the Bridge in Command of Commander Velaul. Getting up from the command chair he said,

"Commander Velaul, you have the Bridge, let me know when we are about to arrive at our destination, I will be in my ready room." he said, walking across the Bridge to the Ready Room.

"Commander Pond, if you see any security threat in advance of our arrival, then bring us to yellow alert."

The door to the Ready Room opened and Captain Brooks stepped inside.

Watching Daniel leave the Bridge, Beno wasn't ready to go to the center chair. There were a few things she would like to get started, they had a ways to go and it would be time well invested. They should be ready for anything, and there were a few things that they might need to practice. "Ensign K'Rora I think it would benefit us all if we were to calibrate our sensors for the asteroids, the differences in gravitational pull could throw them out of sync."

There were also a few other things they should be working on. "Commander Pond I think we should get your teams to run simulations for close quarter combat, and Medical evacuations. The Holodeck would be a great place to do it, we might even have to go into one of thoes asteroids."

Moving closer to the center chair, she enjoyed sitting in it every now and again. "Ops let's see if there is any record of movement on the Cardasian side of the border." If they were going into the Asteroid belt, they were going to need a pilot who was really good.

== My deepest apologies for my tardiness. I expect and except any flogging deemed necessary ==

T'Kol prided herself on being on the bridge on every launch so as she raced into the bridge she was slightly and obviously out of breath. What was not as obvious was her felt of shame and embarrassment. Aspects that she was not willing to make so widely known.

As she looked about she was surprised the Captain was not on the bridge but she was not sure if she was relieved or even more so pained.

She could have possibly snuck into her station without anyone noticing but she opted to report in and take whatever punishment would come.

"Commander Velaul, My apologies on my lateness. Is there anything you would like me to address as I take my station, sir?" She said as she stood ridged next to the First Officers chair.

==Finally can reply! Happy new year wishes to everyone and let's see if anyone wants to make a last post of the year with me Smile==

As her sensitive ears picked up the ambient chatter of the bridge, her reverie was suddenly broken by the clear voice of her immediate superior. "Good morning Ensign, its a great day for a trip close to the Cardasian boarder." K'Rora smiled in return, and nodded attentively as she spoke about helping each other. But as she spoke about what they did as leaders, a faint voice tugged at the back of her mind: Can you help me, though? She pushed that small thread of cynic thought out of her mind as she listened to her instructions.

"Just remember when we get close to our destination to use passive sensors only, we don't want to panic the locals." K'Rora momentarily was distracted by the captain leaving, but the First Officer's instructions brought her back to the moment. "Ensign K'Rora I think it would benefit us all if we were to calibrate our sensors for the asteroids, the differences in gravitational pull could throw them out of sync."

The small, slender Caitian nodded. "Yes sir, I will get on it right away." As soon as the first officer left her, going away to hand out some more tasks for the others, she turned her work to the sensors, running a full recallibration and a level 3 diagnostic on them, just to make sure they were fine. On top of that, she made sure that all of the passive sensors were online, and as for the rest of the active sensors she would shut them down as they approached.

After that was done, she looked over her back, made sure no one was watching, then opened up a small window to take a look at her own scans that were running. Nothing yet... but it is my first mission after all...

==GM Input: Does her calibration and diagnostic of her sensors go fine and if so, does she pick up anything interesting? Thanks!==

==Timeskip to arrival in sector of mine, feel free to back post==

The Charon arrived in the area of the sector where the asteroid mine was situated. As the ship slowed to impulse Captain Brooks returned to the Bridge.

"Anything to report number one?" he asked Commander Velaul as he moved towards the command center of the Bridge.

As the Charon drew closer to the Cardassian border, the mining facility gradually came into view on the ship’s viewscreen. The facility was composed of several grey, industrial towers built into the surface of the asteroid. At first glance, it appeared to be in good condition with no signs of battle damage or mechanical breakdown.

== For K’Rora ==

The diagnostic confirmed that the Charon’s sensors were functioning properly. As the ship approached the mine, passive sensors began to report a high density of dilithium and traker, a mineral that was commonly found alongside dilithium. Whether this was interesting was a matter of opinion.

Seeing the Captain come back on the Bridge, Beno got up from the center chair. It was time for hi to take his place on the Bridge, and her to take the one to his right. There was also nothing special to report to him.

"It was smooth sailing Captain, nothing to report." This was one of thoes times where no news was good, they could use the time for presentations. "We are in great shape, and the Bridge is yours." She moved to her proper place on the Bridge, and looked at the view screen, it didn't look too special and very quiet. This was one of thoes bad quiets, and she was almost ready to go in.

"It was smooth sailing Captain, nothing to report. We are in great shape, and the Bridge is yours." said Commander Velaul moving over to her position on the Bridge.

As the asteroid and facility came into view, nothing seemed out the ordinary. It looked as if the place was in a good condition.

"Maybe it could just be a communications failure that has brought us to here, as by looks of it, everything seems to be alright."

Dan hoped it was just that, so they wouldn't have to stay so close to the Cardassian boarder any longer than need be.

"Comms, but out a hail and see if you get any response I doubt you will and check all other communications in the area." he said before turning to Velaul.

"Take a small away team, yourself, maybe Pond, Hoekstra and Anderson and see if you can get any joy on a face to face visit."

Getting up she was to go to the mine, she also had a line-up of people that she wanted with her, they will give her the best chance at success and all. Sometimes having natural ability beats technology, where technology can be jammed natural ability can not as easily.

"Commander Pond you are with me, please report to shuttle bay one. We are going to be wheels up ten minutes." This was one of thoes times when taking a shuttle would be best, they have systems that would keep them safe. They were going into a situation almost blindly, and needed a bit of an Ace in the hole.

Tapping her combadge. [Lieutenant Young please report to the Bridge. Lieutenant Hoekstra and Troy please report to Shuttle bay one. Lieutenant Troy please bring a supply of Tri Ox with you. We are wheels up in ten minutes.]

Before she left the Bridge there were a few things she needed to cover. "Captain just a reminder that the Cardasians are likely to have contracted their dirty work out to a third party, they don't like to get their hands dirty." It was more of a word of caution about everything going on.

"Ensign K'Rora I have Lieutenant Young coming to assist you in this, follow your intuition. If it doesn't look right to you, it probably isn't." Just before she went into the Turbo lift. "As I like to ask Captain. When did Noah build the Ark? Before the rain." Getting into the lift she was ready to get the show on the road..

Getting to the Bridge Carley went directly to the Science station, but not to take over. This was one of thoes times when on the job training, and she was there to help. It was a little on the job training that really let's you know what you are capable of, even better it helps you expand on your ability.

"Hello K'Rora glad to see you again, I am here just to help you get through this." With Asteroids there were a lot of things to take into account, and number one was the materials of the Asteroid. The material of the Asteroid could blind their sensors to possibilities, but if they could get something started.

"To get started I suggest we scan the Asteroid to see what it is made of, if we get the materials that the asteroid is made out of we can work with that." This was just the start of things they could do, another was going to be for anything that might be out of the ordinary.

As the Charon finished its approach, the ship's short-range communicator began to trill with an incoming message. The message read:

********************
DILITHIUM MINE ADM-C16
AUTOMATED SYSTEM REPORT
********************
STATUS: ONLINE (STANDBY)
LAST ACTIVITY: 26 SECONDS AGO
CURRENT OCCUPANCY: 0
********************

It appeared that the mine had been programmed to send this report to any Star Fleet ship at close range.

For Young/K’Rora:
The asteroid’s composition was primarily metallic. Charon's sensors detected large quantities of nickel and iron, as well as the previously observed traker and an impressive concentration of dilithium. Sensors were unlikely to be impacted by the surrounding environment.

T'Kol manning her comm station began to set out the standard greeting towards the asteroid mine be she got a quick response that she quickly realized was and automated.

She quickly sent back another message of the ships standard greeting that gave [This is the USS Charon, of the Federation of Planets, Captained by Captain Brooks responding to request for assistance, please respond.] She sent the message again. but still decided to give a report while she watched and listened to see if any other message would come through.

She paused hearing the First Officer statement before she left about a 'Noah'. T'Kol was confused by the statement and simply raised her brow. She knew every name on the ship and she knew of no Noah. She was equally confused about him building some... Ark?

"Captain," She began as she called to the center chair.
"We received a quick response, automated, from the facility. There are to points of interest in the message though sir.
One is that its 'last activity' was only 26 seconds ago and perhaps more concerning that there is ready 0 occupancies.
No personnel in the facility." She gave

"I am repeating our initial greeting message sir unless you would like me to patch you directly to the facility." She added

The young caitian took in the scope of their job with a determined mind, going through the motions as she listened attentively to the first officer speak. "Ensign K'Rora I have Lieutenant Young coming to assist you in this, follow your intuition. If it doesn't look right to you, it probably isn't." K'Rora nodded vigorously. "Yes, sir. I understand." She was equally confused by the first officer's remark about the ark but decided to take it as one of the "expressions" that humans tended to make.

When she remembered Lieutenant Young was coming, she had to stifle a growl of frustration. I'm not a little cub. I can handle myself! She was also disappointed by the fact that she wouldn't have the chance to check on her own scans, but nevertheless calmed her emotions as she noticed the Lieutenant coming up. "Sir." she said, standing at attention as she came up.

"Hello K'Rora glad to see you again, I am here just to help you get through this. To get started I suggest we scan the Asteroid to see what it is made of, if we get the materials that the asteroid is made out of we can work with that." she said. K'Rora let out a tiny breath of relief. At least she was not going to micro manage her. Just babysitting today...

She nodded and replied. "It's a pleasure, sir. I'll get right on it." The Caitian worked the sensors, typing away as she soon pulled up a basic preliminary scan of the planet. "Captain, scans of the planet show the asteroid’s composition is primarily metallic. Our sensors detected large quantities of nickel and iron, as well as the previously observed tracker and a large concentration of dilithium. " K'Rora made her report to the Captain as well as nodding toward Lieutenant Young.

Next, she turned her attention to getting a life sign scan running as well as a potential dangers scan like unstable tectonic structure, etc... "Scanning for life forms now."

Taking a half step back, Carley had a few ideas, one of them was not to stand in her way. The Commander was clear on her instructions, and it was not to interfere. "Ensign I am going to be here if you need me, but I am not going to hover over you. If you need help, I am here for you."

Going over to Ops, Carley started to look into what the sensors could tell her. If there were any ships in the area, they would leave a trail. If they were operated by a remote system, there would still be some kind of signal they could trace back to the source.

"Captain I am looking into any signs of ship travel, and any signs of remote access. It might give us a better idea of what we are dealing with." This would give them a bigger picture, and tell them if people might be present. They would also tell them if they were coming from the Neutral Zone, the hard part would be to figure out how to interpret the information the information.

The Charon’s standard greeting was received by the mining facility, but there was no response beyond the automated report. The comm system hummed with the ambient sound of background radiation.

== For K’Rora ==

Scans would not reveal any sentient life in or around the mining facility. There was, however, a small fiddle leaf fig tree in the miners’ common area. The plant appeared to be in good health.

== For Young ==

There were no lingering warp trails in the vicinity. Both sides of the nearby Cardassian border were quiet, for now.

It was impossible to tell whether the mine’s systems had been accessed remotely in the past. At least for now, the mine wasn’t transmitting or receiving any instructions on a standard frequency.

Even with the scan results there wasn't much to go on, but there was still something. There was no signs that any remote access has been done, now it was time to look for anything preventing that from happening. In a place like this there could be a number of reasons this could happen, alot of them were natural. One small misalignment can cause this level of chaos, and more. Another thing she was looking for was power levels, sometimes if they don't have enough power no signals can get out.

"Captain it looks like the coast is clear, and there are no signs of recent ship activities. I am currently looking into other factors that could have caused this." If there was something that caused a bit of an electro magnetic pulse, there would be some kind of sign. It could even throw off navigation if it was powerful enough.

When an EMP hits the residual effects includ increased magnetic properties, and this could even cause problems with internal systems including life support. The next scan was looking for any signs of life support, and how strong it might be. There had to be something out there that would cause this, something in space could have caused this.

"Ensign K'Rora can you think of some kind of event that could cause an EMP to happen, like a Supernova or Gamma Ray Burst?" She was firing out ideas that might work, but wasn't sure about anything.

There were no signs of residual magnetic charge in the vicinity. Life support systems appeared to be functioning normally. From all appearances, the mine appeared to be in good working condition, though its power usage was surprisingly high while in standby mode.

Her scans that Carley made revealed little but one interesting fact, the power usage wax pretty high. It was supposed to be on standby, what could be running that causes such high power usage. Running another scan to see what might be running.

"Captain my scans have revealed higher than normal power usage for being on standby mode, and I am attempting to figure out why. T'Kol I would love to hear what you would theorize about what could be using all of this power."

One of her theories was that they could be using the transporter in continuous loop, and there might be someone in the pattern buffers. It was a common trick that people used to hide from someone. There were a few other reasons the same thing, and she was going to figure out what they are. There could be many reasons, and not all of them violent. However they would be ready for it, as she likes to say it's better to be ready for trouble than look for it, the person ready for it is always better prepared.

The mine’s EPS network was a tangled web of overlapping systems, far removed from the efficient layout of a Federation starship. The excess power usage could be caused by the transporter system, a leaky subroutine in environmental control, or a damaged plasma conduit, among other causes. An experienced engineer could diagnose the problem on-site.

The scans that Carley received made things a little more clear, and an easy solution that goes with it. There might also be a hazard to the team that could easily be avoided, and getting them back in one piece was always at the top of their agenda.

"Captain power usage during standby mode is really high, the mine’s EPS network was a tangled web of overlapping systems, far removed from the efficient layout of a Federation starship. The excess power usage could be caused by the transporter system, a leaky subroutine in environmental control, or a damaged plasma conduit, among other causes. I believe that Lieutenant Hoekstra could diagnose the problem on-site."

Carley thought for a second, I believe it is possible that people might be in the transporter buffer. I am not exactly certain about it, but it would explain a lot." she wasn't quite sure what to do from there, but the thought of the away team was always on her mind.

"Captain my scans have revealed higher than normal power usage for being on standby mode, and I am attempting to figure out why. T'Kol I would love to hear what you would theorize about what could be using all of this power." Asked the Science officer.

T'Kol turned her chair to regard the young officer with a slight raised right brow as she was clearly thinking of possibilities.

"I was going to suggest that such an unchecked higher power level would suggest that perhaps there is some type of malfunction. It could suggest the reason as to why there is no life forms. The malfunction may have eliminated the inhabitants." T'Kol gave a rather dark and bleak possibility without really intending to.

"It may be the years working with security but it is also possible that something that was not specified for this site has been added. Perhaps something that is not supposed to be a part of their systems. Perhaps, even, a specialized security system, which would be logical considering their position. Or something intending to, fool, typical scans."

She looked at the captain. "Unfortunately, I could hypothesis many possibilities however I do not believe any of them would be helpful for you." She gave.

She looked over towards the younger officer. "Perhaps we could do a multispectral scan along with a biological deep sweep. Would you not be able to scan for something more particular? Perhaps eliminating what is not, showing, can show more." She added

"If we are sending an away team I would make sure we have adequate security with possible phaser rifles as well as standard side hand phasers. As well as an engineering team ready to get hands on diagnosis." She suggested.

==So sorry for the late reply again! We're celebrating Chinese New Year over here and the festival has been crazy fun. Wish you all good health and strength in the new year!==

K'Rora had, for the most part, kept rather silent throughout the discussion. She knew that as a new officer, she should keep her mouth shut. That was how it always worked in her family, though. Whenever guests came over, she was to stand or sit nearby, listening to the conversation, but never to say anything unless spoken to. So, this tradition, which she nonetheless still held a deep dislike for, continued on even here, where she decided to leave the top officers on the task.

Her results of the life form scan came back, and this time she spoke. "Captain, Commander, i'm sorry to interrupt the conversation, however, my additional scans of life forms have yielded no animals or sentient beings anywhere. There is, however, a small fiddle leaf fig tree in the miners’ common area. The plant appears to be in good health. I believe it might be their 'pet tree'? " she suggested, trying to use an unfamiliar word before turning back to her work. As she heard T'Kol talk about running scans, she decided to wait for the captain's go ahead.

Suddenly, an idea flashed into her mind, and she muttered to herself as she tried to piece together what she had learned from the academy and here. Confindent in er own, little suggestion, she spoke. "C-Captain, i have an idea. Perhaps if we could obtain the layout maps from the database with all the underground mineshafts and corridors, we could superimpose that onto any targeted scan we do. That way, we could quickly identify any abnormalities we find in our other scans. For example," she shifted her feet as she spoke. "If we ran a targeted heat scan, with the map imposed, we could be able to quickly distinguish where the heat should be and where the heat is appearing abnormally, rather than just different points on the whole asteroid."

She waited quietly for the captain, as well as Lieutenant Young and T'Kol's response.

There was an incoming message from the away team, and it had both Visual and audible signals. When the Captain opened the channel he could see everyone. [Away team to Charon we have landed safe, and our status is secure. The condition of the shuttlebay isn't the best, but it is secure. Right now we do not have access to the mine right now and working on it, there has to be a reason why this door is sealed.] She didn't close the channel to get a reply.

The idea to get a layout of the mine was a great idea, plus all of the plans for the mine would be filed with Star Fleet. They should be able to pull them up and compare what is there, and what should be there. The pet tree theory could be sound, people in deep space needed something like that as a reminder of home. Searching the databases for the plans, Carley was searching for all plans for the mine, and that includes any shafts they might have filed.

T'Kol was also right, not everything was always as it appeared, sometimes there was other activities going on in the background that might not be noticed by others. Sometimes these activities attract the wrong kind of attention, and anything could go from bad to even worse. There would also be in place an evacuation plan filed, and that would also include a  muster point. This is where everyone would meet up for easier rescue.

"Captain on top of looking for the plans our Ensign has suggested, I am also looking for any evacuation plans that they have in place. It might give us an idea of where anyone went, and or attempted to go." It wasn't much to go on, but it was something.

Daniel listened to all the very good suggestions from the Bridge crew and replied,

"I'm willing us to do all suggestions at this moment in time to be able to somehow narrow down what might have happened along with the power issue." his icy blue eyes swept around each member in turn.

Then the comms opened up from the away team,

[Away team to Charon we have landed safe, and our status is secure. The condition of the shuttlebay isn't the best, but it is secure. Right now we do not have access to the mine right now and working on it, there has to be a reason why this door is sealed.]

Brooks stood up from the chair and moved to the center of the Bridge,

"Good to hear from you Commander. We have scans indicating some kind of higher power level inside the mine, we are trying to trace what it is. Life support is working inside the mine currently no life signs on the mine itself apart from the away team. Proceed with caution Number One."

The mine’s plans were readily accessible from its database. There were several mineshafts drilled into the core of the asteroid, which were equipped with holographic emitters throughout. Each tunnel also contained an auxiliary processing core capable of storing a single holoprogram.

Most tunnels appeared to be in operable condition, though some of the older tunnels had fallen into disrepair. There was one collapse that appeared to have occurred a couple of weeks prior to the Charon’s arrival.

The mine was equipped with enough escape pods for the organic crew. In the event of a catastrophic meltdown, the mine would broadcast a distress call using an emergency frequency. The holographic miners were instructed to contain the damage by any possible means.
