Alex greeted them with a big smile and gave Beno a hug and a kiss right away, "Yes, our daughter does look very pretty. I missed you ladies. I must say that you are both looking quite beautiful." He looked at Reyna, very impressed with her, "Did you actually get your nails done?" She held out a hand for him to see and he nodded approvingly as he bent down to take it and give the small hand a kiss, "Wow, you two make quite the pair and I'm a lucky man." As they turned to walk in, Reyna looked up and gave Beno a wink and a smile. she made a point to take each by the hand and walk between them, basking in the public family moment.
The restaurant offered a wide variety on the menu. The name referred to the setting, which had lots of plants and felt as if they were in an outdoor park. Alex ordered up a kind of limeade that had a splash of a smooth brand of whiskey. For food, he went with the grilled salmon with a special sauce they made, along with some wild rice and grilled yellow squash. Reyna was true to her word and ordered the soup and some ravioli stuffed with prepared mushrooms and a savory sauce over the top.
When Beno asked about what they should do after dinner, Reyna thought real hard and then said, "Well, I guess it depends on what kind of mood you're in." Reyna could think of a long list of cultural events like concerts, plays and various art displays, but she wanted to keep it fun, so she decided to suggest something. "Mom, have you ever played Goofy Golf? There's not much actual golf involved, but it is more of a silly obstacle course to try and hit a little ball through. It's almost impossible to take seriously, but it is usually good for a few laughs. I've not seen the one they have here, but I read that they have one. I've only played on a holographic one before."
Alex laughed, "I didn't know they had a miniature golf course here."
Reyna nodded, "Yep, but I don't know why they call it miniature golf, as it isn't like a normal golf course that is smaller, it's goofy. There are things that move and try to knock your ball out of the path, usually mazes and sometimes you have to guess which hole will actually get your ball to the right next level. There might even be a tiny waterfall or something, you never know what silly stuff they might have. I love it when there is geometry involved and maybe a ramp to make your ball jump into something. It's SO cool when they make a maze that uses math and basic physics."
As Reyna was talking, she was being very animated and talking with her hands. It was a rare moment when Beno got to see her act almost like a normal kid, yet she loved math and physics, making her definitely her father's daughter. With a little bit of sauce at the corner of her mouth, Reyna looked at Beno expectantly to see how she would answer.
